The Role of Bui Huu Hung in Cultural Diplomacy

Bui Huu Hung has participated in numerous international exhibitions, spanning Asia, Europe, and the Americas. His lacquer paintings have consistently been highly regarded, attracting significant attention from the global art community. Through these international exhibitions, Bui Huu Hung has contributed to building a bridge between Vietnam and other nations, helping the world gain a deeper understanding of Vietnamese culture and art. His works are often displayed at diplomatic events or significant occasions, where art serves as a refined and effective means of conveying cultural messages.

  • 1996: Exhibition with Nguyễn Tư Nghiêm and Nguyễn Chung at Four Seasons Hotel, Singapore.
  • 1998: Exhibition at Gallery 27 Cork Street, London.
  • 1999: “A Novel Tradition” at Plum Blossoms Gallery, Hong Kong & Singapore.
  • 2001: “Rumination” at Metropole Hotel, Hanoi.
  • 2004: “Bui Huu Hung’s Lacquers” at the Americas Museum, Miami, USA.
  • 2008: “Land of Legends” at Park Hyatt Hotel, Ho Chi Minh City. – “Recollection” at 27 Albemarle Street, Mayfair, London W1S 5HZ.

His paintings are held in the collections of international museums such as the Museum of Oriental Fine Arts in the USSR, the Singapore Art Museum, the Sydney Museum in Australia, the Museum in Brussels, the ASEAN building in Jakarta, the Reception Hall of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Office of the Government, the offices of the Prime Minister and Vice Prime Ministers, as well as Vietnamese embassies in the USA, Japan, India, South Korea, Russia, Ukraine, Belgium, and the charitable organisation “God’s Love We Deliver.”

His works have been selected as diplomatic gifts, strengthening the bonds of friendship between Vietnam and other countries around the world
